Dark Love - The Gothfather of Dark Roasts

When the curious gnomes once packed their tiny satchels and ventured to Seattle, it wasn't just for the coffee scene; it was to see The Cure in all their moody, melodic glory. Under the spell of Robert Smith, the "Gothfather" himself, the gnomes were inspired to create a roast so bold, so smooth, and so hauntingly delicious, it demanded a name worthy of its shadowy beauty: Dark Love.

This is the Gothfather of dark roasts: velvety smooth with layers of dark chocolate, roasted almond, and a finish that lingers like the last notes of "Just Like Heaven." Hand-roasted in small batches, Dark Love is perfect for those who crave depth, drama, and a touch of gothic romance in their cup.

Raise your mug to the Gothfather of Dark Roasts - Dark Love awaits.

ROAST LEVEL:

Dark, bold, mysterious

FLAVOR NOTES: Balanced acidity, body and sweetness, velvety finish

ORIGIN:

Picked from the best Central and South American coffees of the current harvest and combined for a balance of acidity, body, and sweetness. This blend is currently made up of washed process Guatemalan and Honduran coffees.

Guatemalan Coffees: Guatemala Manos de Mujer comes from the ACODIHUE cooperative in the mountainous territory of Cuchumatan, Huehuetenango along the border with Mexico.

Honduran Coffees: On the farms, coffee is selectively handpicked and pulped the same day. Coffee is then fermented for 12 to 18 hours and washed in clean water. Parchment is laid to sun dry for 4 to 7 days.

CULTIVAR:

Bourbon, Castillo, Cataui, Caturra, and Colombia

RECOMMENDED BREWING METHODS:

Appropriate for all brewing methods. Excels as drip and espresso. Best enjoyed with good company, a flickering candle, and a Cure vinyl spinning.

IMPACT:

This blend consists of coffee which align with our sustainability principles. Producers are paid an equitable price that supports a living income and provides the producers with long-term demand and price stability. You can be assured the every bag of Dark Love supports farmer centric pricing and causes close to the gnome's heart; because even in the darkest blends, there's always light to share.

Guatamala: Manos de Mujer is grown and produced by indigenous women who are now the owners of their land as a result of widowing from a civil war and men migrating into the United States. ACODIHUE certified the women producers as Manos de Mujer (Women’s Hands) to recognize the hard work of these women and their contribution to both their households and to the national economy. One of the major benefits for producers belonging to ACODIHUE are the investments that the cooperative makes into the community. ACODIHUE recently launched a vegetable gardening skill building program where women can learn to farm their own vegetables to feed their families and also sell to local markets for extra income.

Honduras: The Asociación de Mujeres Productoras de Café La Labor (AMPROCAL) was founded in 2007 by 10 women and is the only association in the region with 100% female producers. AMPROCOL now has over 300 producers and seeks to highlight the efforts of female coffee growers and support them as they produce high-quality, organic specialty coffees. Producers are constantly learning new techniques and processes and share their knowledge with each other. AMPROCOL has a department that provides technical assistance and agronomic advice to farmers, helping to improve productivity and sustainability, which also increases farmer income.
